| I
don't know if any of you have been to Hopedale, IL before, but it
is this little town south of Peoria.
Recently a Peoria
Journal Star reporter, Phil Luciano, visited Hopedale to do a
story on a man who turned 100. Old Man Larson was born in
Hopedale, worked in Hopedale, and still lives in Hopedale.
Phil asked Old Man
Larson to tell him a story from his Hopedale life that would give
some insight into Small Town American Life.
Old Man Larson
replied, "Yeah, I remembered this time when a young teenage
girl got lost in the woods, and the whole town formed a posse to
search for her. We found her out in the woods, and had our way
with her, and brought her back to town."
Phil: "Oh my
god! I can't report that. Were there any other moments that would
remind the readers of Small Town American Life?"
Old Man Larson:
"Well, yeah, there was this time that Farmer Brown's cow got
loose and lost in the woods. The whole town formed a posse, and we
found the cow and had our way with it, and brought it back to
town."
Phil: "Oh
Lord... Maybe we should change the story ideas. How about a story
of a bad memory of Life in Hopedale..."
Old Man Larson: "Well, there was this time I got lost in
the woods..." |
